TreeThe Land

Rincón is a dedicated Sirora pistachio orchard set in the heart of Spain’s thriving pistachio-growing region. This fertile land is currently transitioning to organic certification, ensuring that future cultivation follows the highest standards of sustainable and eco-friendly agriculture.

Rincon is located in one of Spain’s fastest-growing pistachio-producing areas, benefiting from the region’s:

  • Ideal soil conditions – well-drained and rich in essential nutrients.

  • Low humidity and warm summers – perfect for pistachio cultivation.

  • Proximity to Tablas de Daimiel National Park – supporting biodiversity and sustainable agriculture.

Sirora

Sirora is an Australian pistachio cultivar developed by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and released in 1982 to suit Australian conditions.

It is known for its high yield potential, uniform nut size, and desirable kernel-to-shell ratio. Adapted to low humidity and high temperatures, Sirora thrives in regions with long, dry summers. Sirora produces green kernels with a mild, buttery flavor and a thin, easy-to-open shell, making it ideal for both snacking and industrial processing.

It is resistant to soil salinity and most common pistachio diseases, making it a resilient choice for cultivation. It is regarded as the best female pistachio variety for plantations in warm and dry climates.

Farming methodsFarming Methods

At Rincón, we are committed to adapting our farming practices so that in future they align with EU Ecological standards, ensuring a more sustainable and environmentally responsible approach to agriculture.

While the land is not yet certified organic, we are actively implementing eco-friendly methods that support soil health, biodiversity, and long-term sustainability.

Over the next few years, with the support of our community we plan to transition Rincón into a fully organic pistachio orchard, meeting the strict requirements of the EU Ecological certification. This transformation will involve natural soil enrichment, integrated pest management, and optimized water conservation techniques, gradually replacing conventional methods with regenerative agricultural solutions.

Plantation marking of 6x4 metres

Though not yet certified, our activites at Rincón are focused on ecological farming and  implementing organic practices to promote soil health, biodiversity, and environmentally friendly cultivation. This includes:

  • Natural soil enrichment to improve fertility and minimize synthetic inputs.

  • Water-efficient irrigation to ensure sustainable resource use.

  • Integrated pest management to reduce chemical reliance.

To maximize tree health and productivity, the orchard is planted with a 6x4 meter spacing, allowing for:

  • Better airflow and sunlight exposure for optimal growth.

  • Efficient use of nutrients and water to sustain high yields.

  • Long-term sustainability as trees mature and production increases.
